CommunityForward focuses on impactful partnerships with local universities and organizations and training/mentoring for aspiring students from underserved communities. Our scholarship recipients include veterans, military, caregivers of wounded warriors, and victims of human trafficking, among others.

Empower Veteran Students
and Women in Technology

CommunityForward is in partnership with the University of Texas at Austin. Through this partnership with the Office of Student Veterans Affairs at UT Austin, we support the students who have served in our Nation’s military. We also support the University of Texas Austin’s ‘Women in Computer Science (WiCS)’ program, Hack-a-thons, tech-shares, and Diversity and Inclusion programs.

Caregivers of Veterans

CommunityForward is forever grateful to our military, veterans, and their families for the sacrifices and commitment they make for our country. Our program with the University of Maryland provides a 4-year degree scholarship for a caregiver of a wounded warrior. Supporting the education of caregivers can lead to career and financial stability, which is a vital ingredient to the long-term care and success of our wounded warriors and their loved ones.

Rewarding Integrity, Service, and Education (RISE) Scholarship

In the fall of 2021, the CommunityForward “Rewarding Integrity, Service, and Education” (RISE) program debuted. This program promotes qualified, exceptional undergraduate students to pursue degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Each candidate must be a successful academic leader of service who is committed to the advancement of their communities.

We now have two female minority awardees of this scholarship, and we look forward to encouraging and supporting our future recipients and leaders.

Educational Support and Employment for Survivors

We are working with the University of Maryland SAFE Center on a longer-term investment in the Center’s new “Housing + Education” program, designed to help create more self-sustaining lives for survivors through financial assistance for safe housing and educational pursuits. This start-up initiative is modeled on the SAFE Center’s “Housing + Employment” program, which recently received a nearly $500,000/three-year grant from the US Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime. While these grants are providing housing for survivors, CommunityForward is support multiple survivors with financial assistance for their educational pursuits. We are also working to create job training and placement opportunities through corporate internships.

Training & Mentoring

CommunityForward’s partner, Per Scholas, has a mission to open doors to technology careers for individuals from often-overlooked communities. Our partnership with Per Scholas provides workshops where our associates share their experience, knowledge, and advice to individuals seeking a career in Information Technology.
