Reward Integrity, Service, and Education (RISE) Scholarship

CommunityForward and TISTA Science and Technology Corporation (TISTA) are proud to announce the launch of our 2nd Annual RISE Scholarship, after a highly successful launch in Fall of 2021! The “Rewarding Integrity, Service, and Education (RISE) Scholarship” is a TISTA-sponsored and merit-based scholarship, available annually, to current Historically Black University and College (HBCU) students. This scholarship promotes and encourages qualified and exceptional undergraduate students to pursue their education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) or Health-Care fields.

The mission of the RISE Scholarship is to help transform the promise of racial and gender equality into a reality, by supporting talented undergraduate students with financial need; RISE aims to help students stay in school and successfully complete a full-term towards their bachelor’s degree. The RISE selection committee reviews applications. Award selections are based on academic achievement, leadership ability, community service, and financial need.

Scholarship Details and Expectations:

The RISE Scholarship will be awarding up to four (4) scholarships, with the criteria that at least two (2) scholarship awardees must be female, and two (2) awardees, of any gender
Deadline to submit applications are June 21st, 2022
Term Year: Fall 2022 – Spring 2023
Awarded amount up to $10,000
Scholarship Awardees are expected to participate in two CommunityForward events before the end of their 2022-2023 academic year
Scholarship Awardees will be eligible for a TISTA Internship at the end of their term year
Scholarship Awardees who are Juniors and Seniors will be eligible for the TISTA Graduate Development Program

The following are the eligibility criteria to be considered for the RISE Scholarship:

Candidate must be an In-State African American Student enrolled full-time at HBCUs located near TISTA Science and Technology Hub locations (Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Texas)
Candidate is a rising Sophomore or Junior; Freshman students are also encouraged to apply
Hold a minimum GPA of 3.5
Major in a STEM or Health Care related field
Demonstrate courage, strength, and wisdom as shown by community impact through volunteer service
Maintain a personal code of morality or ethics

Notice: In order to qualify for the scholarship, all fields on the scholarship application must be completed. Incomplete applications will be disqualified

Important documents to include in the application:

Academic Transcript
Two (2) Letters of Recommendation:
- One (1) from a college professor
- One (1) from someone you have a professional or personal relationship with
Proof of In-State Residency (i.e. photo copy of license)
